First step toward new online gaming law in the US
Legalization of online gambling in the United States took a big step forward this week. The Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act of 2009, an online gambling regulation bill, passed its first test when 41 members of the House Financial Services Committee voted for it (and 22 against). If the bill now passes both the full House and Senate it becomes a law, which would mean the end of the unpopular UIGEA.
For once, online poker and online gambling in general would finally be legal, with government regulation and taxation. The U.S. would have a similar solution like already in place in France and Italy.
