Jonathan Duhamel, from Boucherville, Quebec became the first Canadian born citizen in history to win the WSOP Main Event. He arrived at the final table with a considerable chip lead, lost the lead in the process, only to regain first place and winning it all in the end.
For both the final contenders it is big pay day – Duhamel wins exactly $8,944,310 and a coveted gold and diamond-bracelet – runner-up John Racener gets $5,545,955.

This is how the final hand played out – Racener was already short in chips, when Duhamel went all-in with his . Racener had to make the call and did get some help on the flop - . He had the chance for a flush, but it did not realize in the end, as and were dealt on turn and river respectively.

After the final hand, Duhamel was swarmed by his fans, all in red Montreal Canadiens jerseys, who cheered him loudly in the Amazon Room at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
