Duhamel and Racener battle it out

WSOP November Nine is down to two players
Duhamel and Racener battle it out

Duhamel and Racener are the names of the two opponents in heads-up play at the World Series of Poker Main event 2010. Nearly 2,000 enthusiastic spectators watched the final table live in Las Vegas. After only 28 hands the first of the nine finalists had to throw in the towel - Soi Nguyen. The second victim was Matthew Jarvis, his full house of QQ999 was beaten on the River by Michael Mizrachi's QQQAA.

So it went on with 7 players. Mizrachi built up 60 million chips for the lead. After dinner at 7PM competition went on. Most spectacular was the way Jason Senti was kicked out. Senti hit on the flop, leaving Joseph Cheong's pocket 10's with almost no chance. A Jack on the turn then brought excitement to the affair. The river then ... actually was a 9, which gave Cheong a straight.

John Dolan finished sixth.

Although holding a large chip lead after restart, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi then broke down in short time, and had to give up big pots to John Racener and Jonathan Duhamel, and against the latter came his exit. He finished fifth.

Italian Filippo Candio ended up in 4th place He dropped out at the hands of Joseph Cheong.

Duhamel and Cheong in particular dictated the pace of the game. While the two gathered 100 million in chips, John Racener waited patiently for his chance. He folds almost every hand and holds on to his 20 million chips. Not so Cheong - he plays aggressively.
When he holds he raises aggressively - Duhamel holds and can is loath to throw his hand away. It comes to a showdown - a huge pot of nearly 180 million chips - the largest in WSOP history - is at stake.

There was no ace for Cheong and thus his stack melted to 10 million chips. Discouraged by this defeat, he was eliminated 6 hands later. 3rd place for him equals to a prize money of $ 4 million.
The battle for gold bracelet and the title of 2010 WSOP Champion continues on Monday at 8Pm local time in Las Vegas.
