Carter Phillips wins event #16

Carter Phillips is the winner of Event # 16, the $ 1,500 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold Em at the 2010 World Series of Poker. He won his first WSOP bracelet. The 21-year old poker-pro from Charlotte, NC, gets $ 482,774 for first place. This was also the first final table at the WSOP for Phillips.

Phillips celebrated his breakthrough at the European Poker Tour Championship in Barcelona (Spain) last year. Since then he has played in several big tournaments, mostly outside the United States. His victory in Event # 16 was also his first cash prize on American soil, after he cashed in earlier in tournaments in the Bahamas, the Czech Republic and Spain. Although Phillips has started to play big poker tournaments only little more than nine months ago, he has already earned more than $ 1.6M in prize money - a truly incredible performance for a newcomer.

The Six-Handed has become popular on major online poker sites. Instead of the usual 9 or 10 there are only six players at a table. Many prefer this format, because a way of aggressive play is often successful against a passive way. Six-handed games are usually full of action and faster.
