819 players survive Day 1a at the 2010 WSOP Main Event
On Monday July 5th at 12pm the 41st World Series of Poker Main Event officially got under way. Even though he performed the traditional “shuffle up and deal” to start the tournament, former champion Greg “The Fossilman” Raymer came to a crashing halt after only two levels of blinds.
A total of 1,125 players started Day 1a, prominent names who eventually joined Raymer on the sidelines included Nick Schulman, Chino Rheem, Mike Caro, Victor Ramdin, Jimmy Fricke and actor Ray Romano.
Unknown player Dwyen Ringbauer finished the day with the most chips of all - 191,125.
The remaining 819 players of Day 1a will continue with Day 2a on Friday.
Day 1b starts Tuesday.
