World Series of Poker

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the biggest poker event in the world. It was back in 1970 when the first ever World Series of Poker took place. Back then only six players competed for what would become the most coveted poker prize in the world. Today the WSOP is a big show, thousands and thousands of players compete in front of tv cameras in numerous events. The best poker players in the world, celebrities and amateurs take part in the various tournaments in Las Vegas. This year the WSOP will take place from May 29 to July 19, the final table of the Main Event will once again be played in November.
To play at the World Series of Poke, you either have to pay a starting fee or win an online tournament qualifier. Tournaments include "Limit Hold'em", "Heads Up No-Limit Hold'em, Seven Card Stud, Pot-Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi-Low Split Eight or Better" and a "Mixed Event". The most important single tournament, the “main event”, is the No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament, where each player has to pay $10,000 in order to participate.
