Texas No Limit Rules

There exist over a hundred different variations, and hence different poker rules. Same for all is the value of the hands, from High Card to Royal Flush (see rankings down below). The difference though lies in the degree of difficulty of the game, and thus in the relation between luck and skill. The most popular games of Poker are 7-Card Stud (Hi / Low), Omaha (Hi / Low) and Texas Holdem. Under these variations of poker Texas Hold'em is a special one. It has by far the most supporters. Here is where the most tournaments take place and new players join every day. In Texas Holdem you can see up to seven cards. You can get much information on which we can build a strategy. The luck factor is lower than in many other poker variants. The higher weighting of ability and knowledge in Texas Holdem offers dedicated followers an advantage to get ahead of the mass of players and thus make sustainable money. All games are played with a deck of 52 cards.

Rules of Texas Holdem

In Texas Holdem, the most widespread poker game on the Internet, each player at the beginning gets dealt two cards face down. It is already possible to make bets with these two cards (pre-flop). After that 3 cards get revealed in the middle of the table (the flop). Each player can now resume betting and then the fourth card is revealed (the Turn). Once again players can make their bets, then the fifth card (the River) is revealed. Now you can get to the last round of betting, then, if more than one player is left, comes the showdown. Players are allowed to use their own two cards together with a selection of three of the five cards in the middle to build the best combination possible. In Texas Holdem only two players need to make an initial bet, small blind and big blind. The player to the left of the dealer is in the position of small blind and the player left of the small blind is in position of the so-called big blind (usually twice the amount of the small blind).

Fundamentals of betting

Bet: The player makes a bet and puts his chips in the pot. The next player must then decide whether to call, raise or abandon (fold).

Check: If you check it means that you do not want to place a bet right now. One can, however, continue to participate in the game. If someone else bets, you have to decide whether you call that bet or fold.

Fold: With a really poor hand, where one also sees no chance to bluff, you fold.

Call: To put the same amount of chips in the middle of the table another player just did. The player stays in the game and the next card is revealed, or it comes to the showdown.

Raise: When someone calls and raises that bid again. Now the other players must decide whether they call, raise again (reraise) or fold.

Showdown: When the last card is revealed and more than one player is left in the game, it comes to the showdown. The player with the best hand wins the pot. If multiple players have a hand of same value, the money in the pot is divided.

Stakes

  1. Fixed-Limit There is a fixed amount for a bet or a raise. e.g. with a $ 1 / $ 2 - Limit game, the bet amount in the first (pre-flop) and the second round of betting (post-flop) is $ 1 (Small Bet). You can also raise just $ 1 at a time (ie $ 2, then $ 3, and finally to $ 4) and this only 3 times (ie up to max. $ 4).
From the Turn on (3rd round of betting) the Bet is $ 2 (Big Bet), thus explains the claim $ 1 / $ 2.

During each round of betting it is allowed to raise 3 times at the most.

  2. Pot-Limit In a pot limit game small blind and big blind are always indicated. Do not confuse this with SmallBet and BigBet! During any round of betting the most possible raise is the sum of the pot. e.g. Pot-Limit $ .10 / $ .20 Small Blind / Big Blind $ 0.10 + $ 0.20 = $ 0.30. The next highest possible raise is $ 0.30.

During each round of betting any player can raise as many times as he likes.

  3. No-Limit At any time, any amount can be bet. There is no limit for a raise and any player can raise as many times as he likes. That can be very expensive, but also be very lucrative ;) Online Pokerrooms (see Pokerrooms) usually offer all three types.
