Nicolas Chouity wins the European Poker Tour Grand Final

PokerStars qualifier Nicolas Chouity is the winner of the € 1.7 million Grand Prize of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo, after he won his seat in a $ 22 rebuy tournament on PokerStars.

Chouity, 23, from Beirut, Lebanon, dominated the final and eliminated, except one, all the opponents themselves. In heads-up he was successful against Austrian Josef Klinger, a notable chess champion. He is the only Lebanese EPT Champion alongside Joseph Mouawad, who won the EPT event in London during Season 4.

Chouity played for two years on the EPT and was 50th in last year's Grand Final, where he took home € 31,000. Chouity traveled to Monte Carlo with a group of 30 poker colleagues. With only one casino in Lebanon, the poker community is rather small, meeting regularly at the Casino du Liban.

After winning the title Chouity was understandably overjoyed: "A dream has come true. I feel great. I had every confidence in the world, I had the chip lead, but you never know in poker. I wanted the first place and nothing else."

His colleague Dori Yacoub, also from Lebanon, was dominating the High Roller € 25,000 event, just a few meters away.
